Week Two Recap
June 27th
Dear Canterbury Swim Team,
The second week of practice went even better than the first. We want to thank all the swimmers for working very hard every day despite the restrictions in place. As coaches, we are adjusting to this new normal but it is going smoother and smoother every day. The weather was much better than last week and we were able to get some great technique work in and a little bit of fast swimming.
Week Two Recap
- On Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday we worked on mainly backstroke with a little bit of freestyle. As you may have heard from your swimmer, the swimmers swam backstroke with cups on their foreheads in order to help keep their heads steady and keep a straight body position.
- On Thursday/Friday we had our first spirit day of the year. During practice, we gave the swimmers a choice of stroke to work with in the main pool, then had more of a fun practice in the deep end/shallow end.
Week Three Announcements
- On Monday and Friday, we will only have three coaches at the pool. We still plan to hold practice, however there will be less one on one interaction from the coaches.
- In practice next week we plan to start getting the swimmers meet ready by working on starts and turns in practice as well as more technique work for all the strokes.
- The theme for Thursday/Friday will be American theme to celebrate the Fourth of July.
- Phase 3 starts on Wednesday. As soon as we know of any changes to practice (if any) we will send out an email.
Meets
- As of now, we plan to hold our first in-practice “meet” the week of July 6th. We will send more information regarding this in-practice meet next weekend.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me at [email protected].
GO CROCS!
Very Respectfully,
Coach Zach
