Meet One Information
Good Evening Canterbury Swim Team,
The coaches and I are extremely excited about our first meet, we can't wait to see our swimmers in action. In this email I will outline how the meets will run and the procedures in place. If you are confused about anything please feel free to email me for any questions. If you have not yet signed up for the meet please fill this survey out by 11 AM Wednesday. If you miss that deadline please email me to get signed up for the meet.
Theme: Christmas in July
Arrival Time: 8:00 AM
Warm ups: Starting at 8:05 AM and ending once the last group is finished. We will warm up in groups of 12 on a first come first serve basis until everyone has gone.
Meet Start Time: After warm ups, estimated around 8:15-8:30
Order of events: Same as in the first email
Volunteers: We will need 7 parents volunteers each day to time the meet. We ask that all volunteers wear a mask in order to protect our swimmers. Sign ups for timer slots are on Swimtopia under the swim meets tab.
Meet Procedures
- Swimmers will be able to sit on the pool deck at a “Pod” of chairs/tables with their siblings and/or friends.
- Parents will not be allowed to sit on the pool deck. Parents will have to remain in the parking lot and surrounding areas
- Please instruct your swimmer to maintain social distancing while waiting to swim. The coaches will not be able to watch everyone the entire time so they must maintain social distancing guidelines themselves.
- Swimmers will also be allowed to sit in the parking lot with their parents if they choose to.
- We will use this document to keep everyone updated on what event is going to the clerk of course, the current event, and the heat. We will also have a whiteboard or sign to keep track of the event for parents in the parking lot.
- A heat sheet will be sent out before the start of the meet.
- Once your child is about to swim parents will be allowed to walk onto the pool deck and stand behind the lanes to watch. Once your child has finished swimming you will have to return to the parking lot.
- We ask that all parents bring a mask and wear it when on the pool deck.
- The clerk of course will be greatly reduced. We will not use the benches and instead have far fewer swimmers in the clerk at one time to maintain social distancing. Behind the blocks there will be only the timers and one heat of swimmers waiting.
Final Notes
- Please bring lots of extra water, the water fountain is broken. If needed we can get the lifeguards to use the sinks in the snack bar to fill up water bottles; however, this is not ideal.
- Bring snacks
- Wear Sunscreen
- It is crucial that everyone maintains social distancing while on the pool deck. We will do our best to limit the number of people but ultimately it is up to the swimmers and parents to make sure that proper space is maintained.
- Most importantly, have fun. This is certainly not a normal season and this will not be a normal meet. This will be a low pressure meet and because we are running it ourselves, we will do a few extra fun things during the meet such as hot heats.
If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to me at [email protected].
GO CROCS!!!
Very Respectfully,
Coach Zach
