Meet 1 Recap
Dear Canterbury Swim Team,
That was an amazing start to the season. While we had a slight delay from the weather, once the meet got underway our swimmers swam super-fast. Even though we didn’t win the meet, the coaches were very impressed with all our swimmers. We were able to win 5/10 relays showing that we are just as fast as Burkwood but not quite as big. We had so many swimmers go personal bests, and so many swimmers step out of their comfort zones and try new events. On top of that we had many swimmers swimming in their first meet ever. Congrats Everyone!
Not only did our swimmers do an amazing job in the pool, they raised 683 pounds of food for those in need! This combined team effort shows the impact we can have on the community when we all work together. The 11 and up swimmers won the contest, so they will get to choose their own warm up at Mondays practice where there will be donuts for all swimmers!

Coaches Highlights
Coach Zach – Despite it being her first meet ever and only being 9 years old, Olivia Hutchings swam one of the hardest events, the 100 freestyle. Even though she choked on water on the first 50, she still finished and race and impressed all the coaches. Great Job Olivia.
Coach Patrick – “My favorite was Reid Hart’s 25 freestyle. This was his first event as a Canterbury Croc and it was a last minute add after his baseball game was cancelled. Reid was in the starting position on the blocks for almost two minutes before his head was ready, and continued that focused energy throughout the race. He was flyin! Great Job Reid, way to go.”
Coach Claire – “I can’t decide, so I have two favorite swims. Scarlett Tucker’s first ever event at her first ever meet was 100 freestyle and she even did a flip turn! She did amazing and I was just really pleased with how well she swam.
Olivia Bruber’s first 50 breast was also incredible. I was so happy to see so much improvement just from her first practice to the first meet. Her confidence has grown dramatically and I was really happy and excited to see her try a new event.”
Coach Aidan – “My favorite swim was Noah Kragel’s 100 freestyle. With a massive 20 second time drop it was awesome to watch Noah hit a best time this early in the season”
Coach Lauren – “My favorite swim was Graham Bruber’s first ever 100 free, his goggles fell off but he finished the race and still had great sportsmanship, then swam the rest of his events.”
Coach Lizzie – “My favorite swim was Gwendolyn Pedraza’s 25 free. She was super nervous at first but ended up doing amazing! Congrats Gwendolyn.”
