Good Afternoon Canterbury Swim Team,

The coaches are extremely proud of all of our swimmers. Through everyone's hard work we were able to get a hard fought win. We had so many swimmers stepping out of their comfort zones and trying new events, a bunch of swimmers going best times, and lot of new Champs qualifiers. On top of all that, all of our swimmers swam super fast. We were able to win 7/10 relays showing our all around speed. We had 9 quad winners, and 7 triple winners! We also had an unheard of 200 best times from our swimmers! Congratulations to everyone!

Coaches Highlights

Coach Zach: My favorite swim was Sam Clark’s 100 IM. Before the meet I asked Sam if he wanted to swim the 100 IM. He decided he was up to the challenge and was our only mite boy in the 100 IM. Sam swam a fantastic race and it was awesome to watch him try something new and show off his hard work.

Coach Patrick: “My favorite swim at the meet was Erin Walter’s 100 Back. Her goggles unfortunately fell off halfway during the first 25, but that clearly didn’t stop her. She finished her race like champ, and it even looked like not having goggles might have helped her. Great job Erin!”

Coach Claire: “My favorite swim from the meet was Caroline Smyer’s 50 fly. She dropped 5 seconds from last week and I thought she did great job. She worked hard in practice all week even doing the 13 and over practice right after her practice on Wednesday. Great work Caroline.”

Coach Lizzie: “Maddie Bynum 50 free was my favorite event because she broke the Canterbury record from 14 years ago set in 2007!”

Coach Aidan: “My swim of the meet is from Joe Blaszak. Joe swam the 100 Fly and really left it all in the pool. He never gave up despite the 100 Fly being one of the most difficult events of the meet.”

Coach Lauren: “My favorite swim from the meet was Riley Brown’s 25 free. After watching her older siblings, Riley Brown swam a fast 25 freestyle getting first in her heat.”

Record Breakers

Maddie Bynum: Maddie broke the girls 11-12 50 freestyle record from 2007 with time of 30.13. Great job Maddie!

Coach Aidan Duffy: Aidan broke the GRAL record in the boys 15-18 50 breaststroke with time of 30.00. Aidan also broke the Canterbury record in the boys 15-18 100 IM with time of 59.81. Congrats Aidan!

Kate Hotem: Kate broke the Canterbury records in the girls 13-14 100 back and the girls 13-14 100 IM. Kate went 1:08.37 in the 100 back and 1:09.21 in the 100 IM. Great swims Kate!
