Dear Canterbury Swim Team,

         Great swimming on Wednesday night! Despite some scorching hot weather we were able to swim incredibly fast and win the meet against Twin Hickory! A couple of records were broken as well… Starting with Kate Hotem breaking both the GRAL and Team Record in the 100 Back with a time of 1:06.06; Lizzie Danforth breaking the 50 breaststroke team record with a time of 36.03; and the 13-14 A Medley Relay (Jackson Eakes, Kate Hotem, Snake Boyd, and Jake Collawn) breaking the team record with a time of 2:09.28. Great job everyone. Along with some fast swimming, both teams lit up the sky green with our glow sticks to honor the memory of Lucia Bremer. To put it plainly, it was simply magical. The Canterbury Swim Team loves you Lucia!

Coach Highlights:

Coach Patrick: My favorite swim had to be Jilly Duffy’s 100 butterfly. I had to convince her to swim it for two days before the meet and she committed to swimming it and scored points! Shoutout to Mackenzie Fellows for swimming it with her!

Coach Claire: “My favorite swim was each event Gabby Coleman was in. She is so close to making champs in almost every event and she’s determined to get it. Also shoutout to Ellie Mullis swimming the 100 IM for the first time ever and getting a champs cut!

Coach Lauren: “My favorite swim was Jabarrie Zebley’s 50 back and 50 free. He is .2 away from champs and he had no time before so seeing his face light up when we told him was something else.”

Coach Lizzie: “My favorite swim was Hank Tyson’s 25 fly. His first ever champs cut! Congrats Hank!

Coach Emily: “My favorite swim was Aidan Jacobs’ 100 IM- it was an amazing race to watch and a very difficult event.”

Coach Jack: “Kate Hotem had an amazing 100 back last night breaking the GRAL record formerly held by an Olympic Trials Qualifier by half a second."
