Meet 5 Recap and Announcements
Good Afternoon Crocs,
With yet another weather delay, the crocs got yet another win. In what was slated to be a very close meet every single person stepped up to help us get the win. The coaches are super proud of everyone for waiting out the delay and stepping up to swim fast.
Green Caps
Sophia Schaefer – Sophia has been working very hard at practice and has come to practically every single one. She consistently listens to the coaches and loves working hard every time she’s in the pool. After the starts and turns clinic last Saturday she spent extra time working on her turns afterwards. Congrats Sophia.
Eleanor Cribbs – Eleanor has been super helpful staying and helping the coaches during the younger swimmer’s practice. She has also been a great meet buddy making the younger swimmers feel welcome. Great Job Eleanor.
Bradley Shae – Bradley has worked so hard all year to learn new strokes. At the fourth meet he swam breaststroke for the first time, then only a week later swam butterfly for the first time. He is also going to try the 100 IM at the last meet. The coaches are so proud that all his hard work is paying off. Congrats Bradley.
Coaches Highlights
Coach Zach – My swim of the meet was Dylan Gurley’s 25 butterfly. Dylan had been working so hard on butterfly for the past few weeks and it was awesome to see that hard work pay off. Not only was it great to watch he got a third place as well! Great Job Dylan.
Coach Claire - My swim of the meet is Meredith McDearmon 25 fly! This is her first year on swim team and she was super excited to swim fly this meet and she worked super hard in practice. She is such a great listener and really good at following directions and instruction!
I also have to give a special shout-out to all our new champs qualifiers. And Snake Boyd for his incredible 50 back. He came up big when we needed him to and it was just a really fun race to watch!
Coach Lizzie - Lexi Hromyak 25 back, she was so excited to swim, behind the blocks and was asking me questions about how she can go faster
Coach Aidan - My swim of the meet goes to the 8 & under 100 Freestyle G relay. This relay included Gwendolyn Pedraza, Jaleigha Zebley, Lexi Hromyak, and Hank Morton. This relay stood out to me because they fought really hard to beat the Church Run relay next to them. It was a very even race the entire time until relay anchor, Hank Morton, out touched the other relay by 0.35 seconds. Good job guys!
Coach Savannah - My swim of the meet would have to be Will Maiden because he did the 100 free for the first time and completed it even with his googles on his eyes.
Coach Emily - My swim of the meet was Bradley Shea’s 50 fly! This was his first time doing it and I’m so proud of him for trying something new!
Records
Maddie Bynum – Maddie broke her own 11-12 50 meter butterfly record with a time of 31.22 seconds. Great Job Maddie!
Dunk Hunger
This meet we did a great job raising meals for the community. The totals for this meet are 8 and Under with 479 meals, 9-12 with 592 meals, and 13 and up with 661 meals. For a total of 1,732 meals. Congrats 13 and up swimmers for another win. Please see the note below from our dunk hunger volunteers William Bremer, Eleanor Cribbs, and Josh Zebley.
“Tuesday is the last meet of the season, and the last time to Dunk Hunger for this summer! As in recent years, the coaches have all graciously agreed to participate in a “Pie the Coaches” competition. Here’s how it works: each coach will have a bin with their name on it at the Dunk Hunger table. Buy a ticket ($1 or one canned good each) and drop it into the coach’s bin. You can buy as many tickets as you’d like. If your ticket is drawn, you get to pie the coach right before the meet starts! All of the donations from the raffle will be gifted to FeedMore.”
