    Meet #2 Recap

    Good Evening Crocs,

Canterbury brought home the first win of the season at our second meet at Hungary Creek. While the weather caused us to drop our relays and swim in two different pools to help speed up the meet, it was wonderful to see how everyone showed up to support the team even in the rain! As a coaching staff, we couldn't be more proud of the sportsmanship and positivity that continues to be displayed by the team this season! We even got an email from a Hungary Creek parent who was working clerk of course commending the team "for the excellent manners and overall conduct displayed during the meet. Every single swimmer she came in contact with was considerate and displayed exemplary sportsmanship." As a team we have amazing swims every time a Canterbury swimmer dives in the water; however, this compliment speaks volumes of the way we work as a team. I would like to thank everyone from the parents, volunteers, and swimmers for making the most of the meet and staying positive, despite the less than ideal weather situation!

    Green Caps

Green Caps are given at the start of every meet to a few swimmers who the coaches would like to recognize for their performance in practice, sportsmanship, and team spirit throughout the past week. This week the coaches recognized Eve Zwerdling (8), Millie Trice (11), and Liam Smith (10)!

Eve – She has been working super hard to get her breastroke and butterfly kick down over the past week at practice! We couldn't be more proud of her focus and dedication to working on it. She has been listening to feedback and trying to make improvements! Awesome work, Eve!

Millie – We convinced Millie to do 100 IM for the first time this week at the meet. Not only has she been working super hard at practice on her stroke technique and turns, but she made an effort to come to a few extra practice to help build her confidence/preparation! Way to go, Millie!

Liam – Liam has made tremendous growth this season so far. Last year, he swam primarily backstroke and freestyle. Not only has he worked up to swimming breastroke but he conquered swimming the 100 IM for the first time! We couldn't be more proud of his focus and efforts with trying to swim new events! Impressive efforts, Liam!

    Coaches Highlights

Coach Lauren – “I couldn't be more proud of the positivity, sportsmanship, and comradery that was shown throughout this meet. Even through the rain and cold weather, everyone was there to support and that shows in the meet results! My swim of the meet goes to Alex Shapiro, who just learned what a flip turn was less than a week ago and went for it when he swam his 50 free on Wednesday night! Not only was it perfectly timed, but it helped him to drop almost 2 whole seconds! Way to rock that turn, Alex!"

Coach Kate - “I am so proud of all the Crocs last night, but someone who stood out to me was Addie Browning. Even with the weather conditions, Addie continued to show excitement throughout the meet. She went best times in both of her events and won both of her heats! All of her hard work in practice is paying off! Great job, Addie!"

Coach Eleanor - “My favorite part of the meet was watching Ollie and Liam do their first 100 IMs!"

Coach Emily - “My swimmer of the meet is Louis Ferguson! He did an amazing job in his freestyle and backstroke, especially staying his back for the entire lap of backstroke! I am so proud of him for swimming two great races!"

Coach Savannah - “My swim of the meet would have to go to Lily Meyer in her 100 IM because she was so positive beforehand and was always cheering others on and me especially, which I loved so much."

Coach William- "I enjoyed watching many swimmers try something that they hadn't done before like Millie, Liam, and Shea!"

Congratulations everyone on a great meet! You can see the entire meet of results here. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email me at [email protected].
