Location: Our pool is Carter Park Pool, located at 1112 Maple St., Ashland, VA 23005 

Parking: The parking lot is reserved for you, the visiting team. If the parking lot is full, please refer to the parking map attached. If cars are parked on Maple Street (the entrance to Carter Park Pool is on this road), the majority of the cars must be off the pavement and parking is only available along the east side of the street, opposite the pool. We recommend parking in the parking lots or along the slightly-further-away neighborhood roads, also shown on the parking map.

Ashland Pool/Team Specifics:

● 25 meter pool with 8 lanes 

● Swimmers can dive in the start end, but 8 & under relay swimmers will start in the water at the shallow end of the pool.

● The timers will move to the shallow end for 25 meter events.

● Restrooms are located in the brick building at the pool entrance. Shoes must be worn in the restrooms at all times.
● Our pool has a new slide this year. No swimmers are permitted on the stairs nor the slide at any time during the swim meet. 

Check-In: Check-in must be completed by 5:30pm. A table will be set up outside the pool area next to the parking lot for your check-in.

Concessions: BBQ sandwiches, hot dogs, pizza,veggie dogs, drinks, candy, chips and ice cream sandwiches will be for sale at the concessions stand inside the pool fence. Cash and Credit Cards will be accepted. Kona Ice will be on site beginning around 5:45 pm.

Seating: The designated visiting team area inside the fenced pool area includes the turn end of the pool and the lane 8 (furthest from the parking lot) side of the pool. No spectators are permitted behind the blocks. Please bring your own chairs. Seating is allowed anywhere outside of the fenced pool area also. Our pool is in Carter Park, a Town of Ashland public park. The park is town property, and the park is open to the public until dusk. Be aware that we cannot control who may be in the park and on the playground during the swim meet. The park is also not lit after dark.

Clerk of Course: Entrance to the Clerk of Course is next to the slide behind the blocks under the blue shade structures. After swimming, swimmers will exit the pool towards the opposite side (past lane 8) to walk back to their area. Traffic flow is clockwise. Only swimmers, coaches and volunteers are allowed in the clerk area.

Weather: In the event of severe weather, we will follow the weather policy as written in the GRAL Handbook – Revised 6 February 2023. The Town of Ashland owns our pool. Town officials and pool lifeguards have the authority to decide whether the pool area is safe and whether the pool must close.
