    Meet #5 Entries/Reminders

    Good Afternoon Crocs!

We are excited for our last home meet this week against Church Run this week! I am sending this out a day earlier so that everyone can make sure to practice all events and get ready to rock on Wednesday! Please read below and make sure to bring some donations for Feed More to the meet! As always, reach out to me directly if you have any questions at [email protected] or text me at (434)238-0284.

    Dunk Hunger Food Drive

    • Hey Crocs! On July 12th we are having our last home meet and will hold our Dunk Hunger contest to raise money and food donations for Feed More. Often food banks have an increased need for donations during the summer months so Dunk Hunger has become a yearly tradition at Canterbury. Feed More supplies food directly to families and also gives to over 250 non-profits and community partners in the Richmond region. Attached is a list of their most needed food items or you can view it here. They also strongly encourage monetary donations as they can provide 4 meals for $1! To encourage your swimmers to get involved, we have a fun incentive-Pie the Coach! Beginning at meet check-in, there will be a Dunk Hunger table for swimmers to bring their donations. Each donation of food items or money will equal 1 ticket. Swimmers will then use their ticket to place in a jar of the coach they would most like to pie. Prior to the beginning of the meet, tickets will be drawn from each coach's jar. The swimmer whose name is drawn will get to pie that coach! You can also give online HERE. If you donate prior to the meet, show the receipt at the Dunk Hunger table, and your swimmer will earn a ticket. Feel free to share the link with friends and family! Thanks, and we hope to see everyone there." -Josh Zebley and Owen Bremer

    Events

    • The events are attached below. Please let me know ASAP if you see anything that needs to be changed.
    • All relays are tentative and subject to change, please check the relay whiteboard at the meet to confirm the relays.
    • For 9 and up swimmers, please double check with a coach that you are not on a relay if you plan to leave early.

    Dive Rules

    • At check in, some swimmers will receive either an “X” or an “O” written on their LEFT arm. This ensures the officials know the swimmer’s dive level. Those will an X will start from inside the pool, and those with an O will start from the side of the pool. If your swimmer does not receive an X or an O at check in this is due to them having the ability to dive off the blocks.

    Sportsmanship/Support

As a team, we would like to do our best to be positive, welcoming, and supportive to our own team and the Church Run swim team. If possible, please go over these quick reminders with all swimmers so we can show what a great team we have :)

    • Cheer on our teammates and be supportive throughout the meet!
    • Wait in the water at the end of each race for everyone to finish, as well as give handshake or high five to at least one lane beside you wait to get out of pool.
    • Do not write anything on back or body at meet beyond the shoulder marking for dive rules, and the event numbers on hand/arm. NO body glitter or paint either!
    • Clean up trash throughout the meet even if it's not yours so that we can keep our pool looking nice and have less work to do at the end of the meet!
    • Help our new/returning swimmers feel comfortable and confident- we are one big family when it comes to swim meets and have lots of new swimmers! Get to know others regardless of age and help any swimmer when/if needed!

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns at [email protected]! Go Crocs!

    Sincerely,

    Coach Lauren
