    Meet #4 Recap

    Good Afternoon Crocs!

I hope this email finds you resting and relaxing in the air conditioning after our toast meet last night. We brought home our second team win of the season against Hungary Creek last night! While the weather and the pool water were incredibly hot, the amount of green to celebrate Lucia Bremer's 18th birthday that could be found around the entire pool deck from both teams was amazing! The support, team spirit, and sportsmanship at each meet are at the heart of what makes the Canterbury swim team so special. Thank you so much for making the most of last night and finding creating ways to work through the heat of the night both in/out of the water. As a coaching staff we are very proud of all the accomplishments that happened last night. Please read all of the recap below and always, reach out if you have questions!

NEW GRAL RECORD SET LAST NIGHT

Congratulations to Coach Kate Hotem for setting a new league Girls 15-18 100 Meter IM record last night with a time of 1:06.88. This breaks the league record of Josephine Fuller (1:07.16) from Hungary Creek that was set in 2019. Way to go, Coach Kate!

    Relay Card Update

Last night not a single relay card was damaged at the end of the meet :) Thank you so much for working with me to make this permanent change so quickly. It is greatly appreciated and the times could be read very easily by the computer volunteers! Let's continue this trend for our last two home meets of the season as well!

    Green Caps

Green Caps are given at the start of every meet to a few swimmers who the coaches would like to recognize for their performance in practice, sportsmanship, and team spirit throughout the past week. This week the coaches recognized Clara Weir (8) and Theo Boyce (9)!

Clara – Clara has really taken off this season! She particularly has impressed the coaching staff with her constant desire to work on improving her dive, ability to swim longer distances and adding butterfly to her meet events! We appreciate her love of the water and her ability to ask great questions to understand things at practice. Way to go, Clara!

Theo – Theo is always focused in practice and knows what is going on. He has been working hard to improve all four of his strokes and master his turns this season. We appreciate his ability to take feedback so positively and apply it to his next swims! We are so excited to see Theo swim 100 IM this week and race with confidence.  Awesome job, Theo!

    Coaches Highlights

Coach Lauren – “My swim of the meet goes to Dylan Gurley for his awesome 50 butterfly last night. He dropped almost four seconds of time and earned himself an advanced time standard! Dylan has been asking all the right questions both at practices and as he prepares for his races at meets to make improvements. I love being able to watch him and see his efforts pay off in his swims! Very proud of you, Dylan!"

Coach Aurora - “My swim of the meet goes to Sam Lionberger for her amazing 100 backstroke swim! She has been working hard in the past two seasons to qualify for CHAMPS, and her 3 second drop yesterday got her a qualifying time! Way to go, Sam!"

Coach Ellie - “My swim of the meet goes to Oliver Hope for his excellent 100 IM! Oliver dropped 7 whole seconds in his IM and really impressed the coaches and himself! His hard work and showing up for morning practices does not go unnoticed! Hard work pays off! Good work, Oliver!"

Coach Kate - “My swim of the meet goes to Wells Francisco! Despite having some nerves before doing fly on his relay, he crushed it and led his relay to a heat win! He also dropped almost 15 seconds in his 25 back and swam his first ever legal 25 breast! He's a pretty unstoppable 6 year old and I can't wait to see what else is in store for the rest of his season!"

Coach Steph - “My swim of the meet goes to Lexi Hromyak for her 25 freestyle! Lexi shows consistent effort at practice, and it really shows when she races. She dropped a full second off her senior varsity time, and she continues to improve every time she hits the water. Watching her swim this event never fails to impress me. I can't wait to see her keep growing throughout the season. Great job, Lexi!"

Coach William - “My swim of the meet goes to Leven Winebrenner for his awesome 5 second time drop in his 100 IM resulting in a JV time! He is working very hard in practice and is consistently dropping time in meets. Great job, Leven!"
