    Meet #5 Recap

    Good Evening Crocs!

Thank you for your flexibility last night at the meet with the power outage. During our team meeting/cheer, I challenged the team to bring the energy in the pool and see if we could reach 50 CHAMPS qualifiers or more prior to the end of the season for the 50th anniversary of Canterbury opening. We are now at 49 qualifiers after last night, so I have decided to up the goal for next week to 55 :) We are incredibly proud of all the new strokes swum, sportsmanship, and positivity happening in and out of the pool. I also want to give a shout out to the following swimmers who helped by stepping up and swimming in a relay last night at the end of the night: Abigail Lauder, Hollis Eib, Lillian Baldwin, Breeley Thompson, and Shea Elmquist! Because of their efforts, we were able to swim all of the relays entered, score in both relay divisions in all age groups, and avoid scratching any!

We only have one regular season meet next Tuesday, July 8 at home before we celebrate the team successes and our qualifiers head to CHAMPS! I know we aren't done quite yet but I want to start the thank you early to everyone for everything done to help make this summer season a success!  I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable 4th of July! We will resume practices next Monday morning, July 7th! Please read below and let me know if you have any questions.

    Green Caps

Green Caps are given at the start of every meet to a few swimmers who the coaches would like to recognize for their performance in practice, sportsmanship, and team spirit throughout the past week. This week the coaches recognized Dylan Gurley (10) and Aubrey Price (8)!

Dylan – Dylan is always working hard in practice and at meets to find ways to improve. He gives every swim his full effort and he continuously asks questions to help find ways to drop time. He has a wonderful attitude when it comes to swimming any event at meets. He also is super supportive of his teammates. Keep it up, Dylan!

Aubrey – Aubrey always shows up to practices and meet with a positive attitude and a smile! She loves to give high fives, swim challenging races, and show her love of being a Canterbury Croc! We appreciate her always giving the coaching staff 110 percent when she is in the pool! Way to go, Aubrey!

    Coaches Highlights

Coach Lauren – “My swim of the meet goes to Hollis Eib for his amazing swims last night. Hollis has been consistently working this season to learn how to legally swim the four strokes this summer. Last night not only did he swim three individual events for the first time, but he placed in all three of them for the very first time this season too! Then we needed an alternate to complete our 11-12 relays and Hollis was more than willing to help out the team! The improvement that Hollis has had from the beginning of the season to now is a true lesson in how being consistent and willing to try new things can go a long way when beginning a new sport. We are so proud of your growth, Hollis!"

Coach Aurora - “My swim of the meet goes to Owen Yeargain for his awesome freestyle events! He dropped over 8 seconds in his 100 free, as well as almost 7 seconds in his 50 free, which is super impressive! Way to go, Owen!"

Coach Ellie - "My swim of the meet goes to miss Emma Price for her amazing 25 free and 25 back! Even though she was anxious to start swimming, Emma showed up to her first practices and even wanted to do doubles! Emma won both of her heats the first time she ever swam in a swim meet! And she did all of this with a smile on her face the whole time! So proud of you Emma and keep up the great work!"

Coach Kate - "My swim of the meet goes to Millie Cumbo's 50 free! Millie got her first ever CHAMPS time which is amazing but what I love even more is getting to watch her love of the sport shine when she is in the pool! She is consistent at practice and always asks questions to ensure she is swimming as best as she can! Keep rocking it, Millie!"

Coach Steph - “My swim of the meet goes to Wells Francisco for his AWESOME 50 freestyle! For only his first time swimming this event, Wells absolutely crushed it qualifying for CHAMPS for the very first time and beating the qualifying time by a full two seconds! His race was so exciting to watch, and it's a true reflection of the effort and dedication he brings to every practice. It's amazing to see that hard work pay off in such a big way. Great job, Wells! I'm so proud of you and can't wait to see what you do next in the pool!"

Coach William- "My swim of the meet goes to Isaac White for his awesome 50 freestyle last night. He dropped 3.77 seconds earning him his first ever CHAMPS cut. Isaac also showed off his flip turn! Isaac is constantly at practice and his hard work is paying off! Honorable mention to Alice Kimel as well for making the 25 and 50 freestyle CHAMPS cuts!"
