    Meet 1 Recap vs. Ashland

    Good Afternoon Crocs,

Last night's first meet of the season at home against Ashland was full of team spirit, energy, smiles, and awesome swims across the entire team! We came away with our first win of the season and it was incredible to witness all of the amazing team efforts both in/out of the pool! The coaching staff is incredibly proud of all of our Croc swimmers! We had so many swimmers trying a new event or distance for the first time, lots of personal best times by 3 or more seconds, and quite a few Champs qualifiers! I would like to thank all of the parents, volunteers, and swimmers for working throughout the meet to bring the energy, positivity, team spirit, and sportsmanship!

    Green Caps

Green Caps are given at the start of every meet to a few swimmers who the coaches would like to recognize for their performance in practice, sportsmanship, and team spirit throughout the past week. Last night, our coaches recognized Emma Waite and Liam Garcia Whitlock!

Emma (7)– "Emma is brand new to being a Canterbury Croc swimmer this summer but has been found nonstop smiling in her lane every time she comes to practice or is in the pool. She is eager and ready to try new things each day! The coaches are proud of all she's already accomplished and can't wait to watch her in her first season on the swim team!"

Liam (9)– "Liam just aged up to the 9-10 age group this year, which is a challenge going from swimming a 25 at meets to 50s. However, Liam has been absolutely rocking it so far this season! He has been doing an amazing job modeling swim skills for his lane at practice, being a positive friend/teammate to all, and working hard to improve. We are proud as a staff of how far he's come during his time as a Croc and can't wait to see what else this season brings for Liam in the pool!"

    Coaches Highlights

Coach Aurora - “My swim of the meet goes to Wes Schurter! He did an amazing job in all of his swims and dropped over 14 seconds in each event! He also did an awesome job in his relay. Way to go, Wes!"

Coach Ellie- "My swim of the meet goes to Henry Zwerdling for his 100 breast! Henry's hard work in practice and constant positive attitude really shows in his swimming this first meet. He dropped almost 10 seconds in his 100 breast since last season and we are so proud of him! Great work, Henry!"

Coach Kate - “My swim of the meet goes to Carson Koontz for his amazing 100 IM! Not only did he drop 19 seconds, he also got his first CHAMPS cut! He also has a great attitude and was so much fun to watch last night! Proud of you, Carson!"

Coach Lauren – “My swimmer of the night goes to Annie White not only has she been working hard at practice, but she has been asking for help/clarification to improve as we have been preparing for the first meet. She dropped almost 3 seconds in her 100 IM and almost 5 in her 50 backstroke from her best times last season. I love seeing her find confidence build in herself through practice/races and look forward to seeing what the next meet brings for her! Amazing swims, Annie!"

Coach Steph - “My swim of the meet goes to Delaney Kinsler for her 25 freestyle! Delaney has impressed all of the coaches with her growth from last year and it shows in the pool because she dropped 20 seconds off her time from last summer. She comes to practice with the best attitude and I cannot wait to see what this season has in store for her. Great job, Delaney!"

Coach William - "My swim of the meet goes to Hattie Ferguson for her awesome swim in her 100 IM! She dropped 44.82 seconds and really impressed the coaching staff. Great job, Hattie!"

    Meet #2

-Don’t forget to mark your Meet #2 Availability for our meet at Burkwood by 11:59pm tomorrow, Friday, June 5 and reach out to me directly if you have any questions or concerns. As of right now, I have 55 swimmers who have no RSVP for next week! Please help me out :) You know you don't want to miss this meet after the hype of meet 1 this week! Also our theme next week is NEON/Glow Party!

    Sportsmanship/Teamwork

Sportsmanship and teamwork are at the core of what makes a sports team great. Don't forget to continue to tell people good job/give a high five after each swim at practice/meets. Make it a goal to always give at least acknowledgement before getting out of the pool. The sport is full of great swims and learning experiences- it is important to recognize them all! Along that same line, it is important to be there for all of our Croc teammates if we notice someone is nervous or needs some extra encouragement- I saw that in so many situations last night at the meet and loved seeing how it helped to boost the swimmer to get excited before a race and be able to finish a race strong :) Along the same lines- please remind your swimmer if they are 9-older and on relays that no relay cards should be torn or ripped as we get ready for the last relays at the meet. There are other positive conversations and things that can be done to swim fast, but messing with the relay cards is not an option!
