Meet #5 Recap at Hungary Creek
Good Evening Crocs!
Thank you for continuing to bring the energy and spirit last night despite the heat of the day! We are incredibly proud of all the new events swum, sportsmanship, and positivity happening in/out of the pool. We only have one regular season meet next Tuesday, July 7 at home before we celebrate the team successes and our qualifiers head to CHAMPS! I know we aren't done quite yet but I want to start the thank you early to everyone for everything done to help make this summer season a success! Reminder that there is NO practices tomorrow morning- please stay cool, safe and have an enjoyable 4th of July holiday weekend! We will resume practices next Monday morning, July 6th! Please read below and let me know if you have any questions.
Green Caps
Green Caps are given at the start of every meet to a few swimmers who the coaches would like to recognize for their performance in practice, sportsmanship, and team spirit throughout the past week. This week the coaches recognized Callie Druff (9) and Joey Geisel (14)!
Callie – Callie is a positive, hardworking, and kind teammate. While she just aged up to the 9-10 group this season, she has worked hard this season to give every practice her best effort and bring the positivity to swim meets! Last week after practicing her freestyle flip turn at practices, she finally went for it at the meet! We are proud of you and appreciate your positive spirit in/out of the pool! Keep it up, Callie!
Joey – Joey is an extremely committed teammate, friend, and swimmer! He gives every practice/race his all and manages to also mantain a smile through it all! He never complains and always finds a way to bring his energy, his effort, and his love for swimming to every lap he does. Way to go, Joey!
Coaches Highlights
Coach Aurora - “My swim of the meet goes to all three swimmers in the 8 & under boys 100 IM! Wells Francisco dropped over 3 seconds, and got a senior varsity time. Isaac White dropped over 13 seconds and got a varsity time. Everett Spigelmyer swam it legally for the first time and qualified for champs in it! Great work, guys!"
Coach Ellie - "My swim of the meet goes to Thomas Butrico for his awesome swims last night! He has been putting in a lot of effort in practice and it is showing in his races! He swam his first legal 25 breaststroke last night as well as dropping 3 seconds in both his 25 freestyle and 25 backstroke! Way to go, Thomas!"
Coach Kate - "My swim of the meet goes to Rose Cimino's amazing CHAMPS qualifying 50 fly!!! Rose has been determined to get this cut and was so focused on the little details that come along with the race by asking the coaches everyday at practice what she could improve on. We are so excited and proud of you, Rose!"
Coach Lauren – “My swim of the meet goes to Liam Garcia Whitlock for coming back from his beach vacation to swim his first ever 100 IM. Not only did he do amazing in the race, swimming every stroke legally on a hot day, but he earned a 5th place finish! He also managed to drop 2 seconds in his 50 free, then helped the team by swimming in a relay when we need a last minute replacement! I also wanted to give an honorable mention shout out to Jack Horn for his amazing 25 breaststroke last night! Jack dropped 2 seconds and earned a 3rd place finish in his swim! He has been working really hard at practice to perfect his stroke and it was amazing to see it pay off! Way to go, Liam and Jack!"
Coach Steph - “My swim of the meet goes to Emma Waite for her 25 breaststroke! Emma comes to practice with the biggest smile on her face and is always ready to work hard. Last night in her 25 breaststroke she dropped 4 seconds and earned an advanced time! Emma's love for the water is contagious, we are so proud of her!"
Coach William- "My swim of the meet goes to Opal Shea for her outstanding performances last night. She dropped a whopping 22.96 seconds in her 100 IM, 2.62 seconds in her 50 breast, and 3.96 seconds in her 50 free. We are very proud of her for these amazing time drops. Keep up the good work, Opal!"
