Good morning Canterbury families!!

Please read this email to the end as it contains information about the upcoming meet at Burkwood. 

Remember there is no practice today so that we may all enjoy the Swim Team Pizza Party 5:30-7.

Tickets for Swim Team Night with the Richmond Flying Squirrels are still on sale.

The Burkwood Buccaneers will welcome Canterbury on Friday, June 9th.

Location : 9120 Burkwood Club Drive, Mechanicsville, VA 23116  (It is approximately 25-30 min from pool)

4:30 - Teams begin to check in

5:00 - Burkwood Warm Ups

5:25 - Canterbury Warm Ups

5:30 - Check In Complete

6:00 - Meet Start

Parking : There is parking available in the lot and on the property. Attendants will direct you as you come in.

Seating : Seating for Canterbury is located in the bleachers on the opposite side of the starter. You may bring deck chairs for your use in the bleachers, grassy area and pool deck near the bleacher side.  The upper pool, baby pool and tennis courts are off limits.    

Check In: Check in begins at 4:30 and ends at 5:30. A table will be set up along the sidewalk path on the right hand side of the clubhouse.  There will be balloons to mark the table.   

Clerk of Course: The clerk of Course is located in the grassy area behind the starting blocks. 

Concessions:  The snack bar and concessions stand, located at the back of our clubhouse, will have dinner items available for purchase.  Hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, beverages, snacks, candy and ice cream will be available throughout the evening until 9:00 pm.  Pizza and Chick-fil-A sandwiches will be available beginning at 6:00 pm until they run out. 

Weather:  If we have to clear the deck due to weather, everyone must return to their vehicles.  The lifeguards and pool management are responsible for monitoring the weather.   There will be a 30 minute waiting period before swimmers may return to the deck and the meet will resume.  We will communicate with Canterbury via Rained Out, Facebook and email. 

 

Preparing for the Meet

• Meet entries will be posted on the website Thursday night- an email will be sent when they have posted.
• Index cards with the events for each swimmer will be handed out at check in. 
• Coaches are placing swimmers in events that they feel best match swimmers' strengths, need of team.  Please trust them!!
• Remember your team suit, cap and goggles.
• Bring more than one towel- one to sit on and at least one to dry off.
• Bring dry clothes to change into after the meet and warmer clothes to put on over your suit for when the sun goes down.
• Bring Sharpies to write your events on your hand.
• Encourage your child to sit with their teammates, but make sure to listen for your child's event to be called to the clerk of course. 
• If your child has a meet buddy help them connect.
• Bring snacks, drinks and games/activities to play while waiting.  Please monitor electronics in the team area.
